Boston Strong in every which way.

A week ago we were faced with a tragedy. Attacked by terrorist who wanted to spread fear amongst the masses. On Monday at 3:00 the city of Boston was bombed and the marathon that was going suddenly didn’t matter. The real goal on that day was then to survive. We lost 3 people, more were injured and even more were scarred by the event. But as a country, we were not going to be brought down this event. We are going to rise from the smoke and the ashes. President Obama gave a speech that moved the people and gave us hope.

Another speech was given in Boston, a speech that was a bit more personal, making the speech given that much more important. I am speaking of the speech given by Red Sox DH and 1B David Ortiz. This was the first game that was played in Boston after the bombing. David Ortiz gave an impassioned speech that gave further hope that we were going to come out of this tragedy brighter, better, and united.

Its Rabbit season well rabbit season for sneakers.

I love the Jordan Retro 8’s. Every colorway is something that I and I think that just about every sneaker heads love them. They have just about no retros and only like four color ways(maybe more) but this year of 2013 has granted us the ability to get the Aquas, the Laney’s, the Playoff’s and of course my favorite the Bugs Bunnies. The Bugs Bunnies just look cool. The person who picked this colorway deserves a pair with their name on them. But they are just a great sneaker. The Eights in general always have had a great feel and then they just look somewhat like a rabbit too, just makes this sneaker a must have. With the weather getting better, I myself will be trying to get a couple of pairs. Before you all try to crucify upside down though I want to multiple pairs in order to have a pair to rock as soon as my first break down. (Which they will) But people get these sneakers 4/20 they come out, you know unless your busy with OTHER stuff.

3 Stripes have never felt so good.

I know that when we think of sneakers the first thing most of us think of is that NIke Swoosh on the side or on the front. But today I want to talk about another type of sneakers. Adidas is another brand of sneaker that most people in these days don’t really pay attention too because many of the biggest athletes and stars in society focus on Nike. So today the pair of kicks that I want to pay attention to are the Jeremy Scott’s Nizza. Now anyone who know of JS knows that he is a little crazy on his sneaker designs really show off the creativity of what he can produce for the masses. Or the mini masses (He doesn’t release his kicks in large quantities). The Nizzas are light weight, beautiful, sleek, and very nice all around. That is all… get these sneakers if you have the chance, that is all.

Baseball is back… really back, no Spring Training, These really count

Baseball is here again and that time of the year when the world wakes up from the slumber of winter. The spring training games that people don’t care about are gone and everything has started at zero once again. I love baseball, no matter it is something that I was raised on and something that was in my life from the time that I was two. The problem I faced as a young kid was that I never liked the teams of the city in which I grew up. Call it an excuse for being a bandwagon I don’t care after looking for the longest time for a team that I could fall in love with, I fell in love with that team by the cove. The San Francisco Giants. The Giants were my team, imagine the looks I got being a New York kid liking a team that plays three hours behind you, and doesn’t play near you except for three times a year. But I fell in love with this team as soon as Barry Bonds left. Once Bonds left I saw a changing of this team and I loved it they played gritty baseball and had great pitching. With the Giants recently I have found that the Giants are still my tea and will always be my team. More Importantly: Baseball is back.

There’s baseball, and then there is world Baseball

There is baseball every time around the same time of the year and we go and maybe even take advantage of it because it’s always there. Then we have the world tournament that is held every three years that is the equivalent to the World Cup for soccer. I am speaking of the World Baseball Classic. In the this tournament they have 16 teams, from 16 nations and what it is, is four  stages of play in which the teams are split into four pools or groups of teams that compete to be the best team in the world.

Most people including me for a while would have thought that the U.S.A. would be the front runner every time that they compete. The fact of the matter is they are not and they have not actually won the competition other than the year of creation of the tournament. This tournament allows for people to view baseball in its purest form and allows the world to fall in love with the sport that millions around the world. This sport is the greatest ever for how it spreads throughout the world much like soccer has. Baseball, Rugby, Soccer are three greatest sports ever and no one can tell me otherwise.

Yo those kicks, what are they made out of?

We go through life wearing all kinds of footwear and we rarely ever think about what they are composed of. In this modern age most people use fabrics of all kinds and plastic and even carbon fiber on some of the higher quality sneakers has started to appear. I will be talking about none of these. I instead will be speaking on a stranger sneaker material that has found its way into production. The Nike Lebron X “Cork” isn’t a color way as much as it is a just all new way to think about a sneaker. This Kick is truly innovative. To explain I must begin with this it looks like any other colorway of the Lebron X series the only difference is, is this sneaker is completely made out of Cork. The same material used to plug up wine bottles for many years is now a sneaker. Now I can’t certifiably say that I’ll cop these but if I had the chance then maybe. Rain + Cork= Maybe a bad time.

On the plus though March is fast approaching and this warmer weather will make the drops next month memorable. (Hopefully)

Now for something completely different from rugby…. Baseball

This is Christmas in February for me. The beginning of the MLB season is almost upon us and although we are more than a month away from the start of the greatest sport ever and anyone who is a baseball feels the same I do. With the way that I feel about baseball, this time of the year is a blessing for me and fans everywhere. This time of the year is not only the beginning of a new season, but of new hope. This fresh start is great for some, not so much for others either way this season is looking like one for the ages.

My Lifeline

I wake up today at 6:00am and notice that the sun isn’t up yet. My alarm has stared blaring and the beginning of my day started. I check my phone for messages from people that I have fallen asleep on from the night before. Then, as if by second nature, I check Facebook, Instagram and ESPN to see how all my teams did. My first class doesn’t until 1:50 but an early start never hurt anyone. I step into the 20 degree with my iPod on and start running for about an hour. Once I get home its time for a shower plus a few good morning text messages and a bunch of emails from last night. All this technology before 8:30 and I don’t usually realize it.

My day then drags on as I head to campus for a while to go play basketball or hang out in a dorm room until class. Once 1:50 hits there is a rare occurrence, all technology in my life gets shut down. My theology teacher will not have it and so for three hours, I am without my lifeline to the world. But alas we are given a fifteen minute break two hours in at which point my phone, and the phones of everyone else in the class, all turn on. I look at my phone and find that nine people have text me all trying to see where I am or for plans later in the day. It seems that technology, or lack there of, ass left me in the dark about things. I respond to whatever I can, then get back to the lesson. When that’s over the phone is back and now things have returned back to normal.

Hanging out after class means more phone and iPod usage and both keep me updated with everything including news from the sports world. On my way home I stay plugged in with my iPod on the whole time and constantly checking my phone. I feel as if there is a cord attached to my phone and I. For the rest of the evening I left my phone go off and pick it up when I have a moment which is usually often to check up on messages and people. This last until the night where I am exhausted where its time to go to sleep. That is until I get a new message and have to respond. Technology has taken over our lives and without we would be lost.Image
